Japanese food has « Shindo Fuji » as concept. It means that people and the land where they live have an inseparable relationship. This concept is also used for meals, and means that eating and living locally leads to good health. The thoughts of our ancestors are found at the base of this idea. Local ingredients are valued, as well as local food culture. We also find this idea in the French concept of terroir. This website features foods grown and loved in various parts of Kyushu based on the concept of terroir.
